Happy Labor Day

After a long week of call, Rob had this holiday 3 day weekend off so we took advantaged and played (and rested too!)

Saturday we washed both the cars inside and out. Everyone had a good time and we've finally got enough for everyone to have a job all the time. Then we went to play putt-putt. A couple weeks ago I took the kids to play and Robert made a hole in 1 on the 18th and got a free game that was burning a whole in his pocket. He didn't get a hole in 1 on the 18th but he did make 2 of them on other holes. He's burning up the course. Our neighbor, Mr. Lynch, works at the pro shop there so we had to stop in and tell him. I also made a hole in 1 so I had to buy a round just like they do in real golf (except we buy rounds of ice cream!) After that we went to the Peter Wentz Farm. It's is 1/2 mile away from our house and is where General George Washington planned two battles after commandeering it. I tried to get Robert excited as we've been to Washington D.C. and Mt. Vernon but the answer to my "We're going to see where George was!" is "How boring can that be!" I'd better add that to my list of Robert Angusisms!

Sunday we got up and went to the members stroll at the zoo. You get in an hour early on special days. We were the first through the gate and had the best time seeing a ton of animals out eating and playing before it got hot and too busy. The monkeys were let out to find their food they placed around, the hippos slowly waddled from eating to the water, not to mention riding the swan boats and horses and all. It was one of the best times ever at the zoo. Then we went to Costco. (Can't miss a weekend there!)

Today we went to King of Prussia Mall. They had really cool frog habitats that the kids each got. Robert has been asking for a fish tank for over a year now but we keep telling him no since we'll be moving soon. This is cool though and they only eat twice a week and is mover friendly so he was super excited. They both have them in their rooms and we've been working on names.

Tomorrow, first day of school! The kids are excited and ready to go. We got to meet the teachers last week and find their desks so they're ready to hit the books. Here's hoping for a good year!

Here are some pictures from the Please Touch Museum we went to. The kids had a blast and I had all my little hampsters running, running, running. We had to tell Rob to quit walking and texting so he didn't get hurt though!!

Finally Updated!

OK, I've finally updated the last 3 months of our lives. Now it is time to close my eyes and rest them. Please forgive any typos or if the sentences aren't all complete (thoughts) as I didn't go back and check things very carefully. I'm proud of myself that I finally did remember how to put a slide show on though and was able to get some good pictures!!

4th of July/Longwood Gardens

Here is a sampling of our day at Longwood Gardens. We had so much fun running around seeing all the flowers and fountains. It is amazing how beautiful it is each time we go. It ended with the most amazing fireworks and fountain show anyone as seen.

June

June was a whirlwind of adventure. It started with Rob taken and passing his radiology board exam. It is so nice to be board certified and have residency over. Immediately we took off to IN for Rob's 10 year Wabash reunion with a detour to Chicago for the kids to spend a fun filled weekend with their Auntie. The kids had fun going to their first baseball game and to the musuem along with a few Wii games while we were having fun catching up with all our friends we hadn't seen since our wedding! It was nice to go back where there were so many good memories and the place where "The Pies" all started! Lauryn finished 2nd grade with a bang. Again we had super grades and Lauryn completed the things she needed to be in the gifted program next year. We are super proud of her! Being in the traveling mood, we took off for a visit with Aunt Maggie, Uncle Denis and Cousin Emily in IN. We had a great time spending time with them, going to Maggie's sister's cottage where we got to fish and go on a boat ride (now they are even more excited for the island trip with the little preview.) We returned home and the next day I had Lasik with great results. My doctor says I have A+ eyes with 20/15 vision now. It is amazing to be able to see everything including in the clock in the middle of the night or myself in the mirror getting ready in the morning!! Next we had a trip to the zoo to say goodbye to the elephants (Robert's favorite animal to see when we visit) as they are going away while they take the time to make them a new exhibit. And finally, Rob started his fellowship at UPenn. It is very different with the hour commute instead of the 15 minute walk or 5 minute drive before, but it is exciting and there are so many things to see and learn.

Whew!

May

May was a busy month. Rob went to Vancouver to present his poster and visited some family all while studying for his general radiology board exams. Rob also moved out of his apartment in Danville and now lives with the rest of us! It was an incredibly long year being apart but it is over and we are enjoying doing things together everyday again.

Robert Angus was busy finishing kindergarten! He did an excellent job with outstanding grades. We are so proud of all his hard work. He is going to be moving to Worcester Elementary with Lauryn next year for 1st grade and is very excited to be going to school with Lauryn.

Crazy April

This April has being going at top speed for our family. We've had a science fair, birthday, trip to NYC, trip to the zoo, Rob in NC and of course 90 degree weather and sickness!

Lauryn had a great science fair project that Rob helped her with. She compared how long different types of batteries lasted in flashlights and which were the best value. Kirkland from Costco are the greatest value followed closely by Rayovac which lasted the longest. Don't bother buying the really expensive ones as they lasted the least amount of time! She had a good time and everyone was very interested in it. She also just happened to turn 8 this month! For her birthday she wanted to go to NYC and be on the Today Show. We woke up at 3:30 and drove into the city and stood outside for 2 hours but we were on! Meredith kissed her on the cheek (picture sporting the lipstick) and Matt shook her hand. The fill in weather man, Chris (Al and Ann were off,) did his report for us and where she got to say her name (and he was nice to include Robert too) and so we were TV stars for the day. Then we did a bus tour of the city and went to lunch with Auntie Susan and Grandma at a place done in the theme of Alice and Wonderland. It was really cool.

Rob had mock boards in Hershey so I took the kids to the Chocolate Factory while he did those. We saw the 3D show and did an Easter scavenger hunt. (Picture with glasses on.) Rob also had to spend a week at Duke at a review course so on that Saturday morning I took the kids to the zoo. (Picture with the cow.) They had a members stroll where we could get in an hour before the zoo opens which is the best time to go. They have a pair of red pandas now (Lauryn's favorite) and we had to see the elephants (Robert's favorite) but missed them eating their veggies this time. Lucky for us, we have the membership and can make it back.

This last weekend we have spent melting. We've had record breaking heat. It was nice to be able to sit outside but it is no fun when the house is 80 when you wake up!

Robert is home sick today and I've had really, really bad allergies the last couple weeks. I'm no fun to talk to (or maybe I am) first thing in the morning and before I go to bed as the medicines wear off and I start to lose my voice, but luckily we live in a place where there are lots of stores to buy things to make me better.
Next month is just as bad. Robert finishes kindergarten, Rob has to move out of his apartment and takes the Radiology Board Exam June 2nd and all the other end of the year activities that keep popping up. Never a dull moment!

Love to all!
